I will always remember fond times spent at the Vass household with Taz, his sister and Jane and dad. I am sorry Taz and Sheila(?) that just now, I can't recall with certainty everyone's name. I am sorry too as it is very hard when a parent dies. My mom is still living but under very diminished circumstances from a sudden acute illness and some subsequent injuries. After 5 yrs of not being able, on a whim, and even though feeling poorly, I went to their storage unit. Among the few things remaining, I happened to grab a thin parcel to bring home. Opening it, I discovered some pictures done in pastels done by Jane! My first thoughts were of fond memories and thoughts about their friendship over the years..While I gathered that some of their time spent together could have their tempestuous moments...not surprising given both of their personalities being strong and as you put it,"living by her own rules!" Lord knows, I doubt they shared politics, ha! My fond feelings upon seeing these fine pictures, I thought too how your mom's well-being and spending time together was important to my mom, for she cared about her very much. Whenever I came home, either I would ask or mom kept me up to speed and we dropped in too. As a kid and adult, your mom was always very kind to me. I admired her for her independence and perseverance. Head strong and outspoken, both our moms have been, "Made of Cork!" (This being a phrase my mom would use of others...just can't sink them. Anyway, I had this impulse to go online. It seemed important even though I wasn't feeling well at all. Thus I find myself here. I am sad that time has gone by as it has, sad to hear that she is gone. How pleased though to hear how well she was to go out painting. I'm so grateful that I knew her & her art. She did impact my life. Glad some bit of energy spoke to me, so as I knew and could write you this heartfelt note. We all did so many years ago, have such fun poking about the old town as it was!
