7-12-1922 - 10-15-2017. Sadie Ruth Donathan was born in Golden, OK to Charles and Nona Shane. Her younger years were spent in Harden County, TX where she excelled in school. She was a beauty pageant winner and voted most popular. She married the love of her life, Frank Donathan, in 1941. They were blessed with 3 children, Barbara Lewis Williams, Joy Kyzer Rasch and Mike Donathan.
They moved to Los Alamos, NM in 1946, then a few years later to Espanola, NM where they would make their home until they retired in 1981.
Sadie was a bookkeeper for Duke City Lumber Co. for years. She was a talented seamstress creating most of her children's clothing, including formals and western suits. She was an accomplished artist and gardener, and a member of the Eastern Star.
In 1981 they moved to Anahuac, TX where they enjoyed fishing daily. She usually caught the largest fish.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Frank; brothers Mutt and Henry; two sisters; sons Patrick and Mike; and grandsons Darren Murphy and Joe Lewis. She is survived by brother Charlie Shane, daughters Barbara Lewis Williams and Joy Kyzer Rasch, 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was a member of Emanuel Baptist Church in Farmington, NM and Mesa Trails Cowboy Church in Mancos, CO. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 27, 2017 at Mesa Trails Cowboy Church in Mancos. A burial service will be held at 1 p.m. the same day at Memory Gardens in Farmington, NM.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Wounded Patriots through Samaritan's Purse.
