It was with deep sadness that I learned about Dicks passing. Dick was my best friend when we were in Kemper elementary. I have shared many stories about Dick with my children. Dick & I spent many evenings after school playing catch into the late evenings. We also explored the swamp when we lived in the Cornett addition. And when I would spend the night at his house we stayed up until midnight to watch Tarzan, and had biscuits with coffee on them in the morning. And mostly, time just hanging around with each other. One of my favorite memories is when we were walking home from school one spring afternoon. We stopped by the American Legion to watch the carnies sit up the rides. One of the carnies asked us if we wanted a job. Said he would pay us 3 tickets a day to shine the brass on the merry-go round. We were about ten years old and at that time each ride cost one ticket. So of course we said yes. We shined the merry-go round brass after school every day that week and saved the tickets. The last day (Friday) the carnie gave us 4 tickets for doing such a good job. The next day Dick & I took all of the tickets we earned and went to the carnival. We had a great time. I think that was the 1st real job (one outside of our home that compensated us for our work) that Dick & I had. Carnies. Dick was a great pal. And those who knew him were blessed.

I am very sorry to find out about Dick's passing.
Dick & I were best friends when we were in Kemper elementary school. I have shared many wonderful memories about our friendship with my children. The many hours we spent playing catch late into the evenings, and exploring the swamp near where we lived in the Cornett addition. Spending nights at his house, staying up late to watch Tarzan. Then having biscuits with coffee on them for breakfast. And the time when we were in the 4th grade and worked at the carnival. On our way home from school one day we stopped by to watch the carnies set up the rides near the American Legion. One of them asked if we wanted a job shining the brass on the merry-go-round horses. Said he would pay us 3 tickets a day. That's when each ride cost 1 ticket. We worked each day for a week and saved all the tickets. Then we went to the carnival on Saturday and had a great time.
Dick was a great best friend.
