Estelle (Smith) Hudgeons Obituary
Estelle (Smith) Hudgeons passed away in Austin, TX on January 11, 2018. She was born in Dolores, CO on February 6, 1921 to Hattie Johnson Smith and Fred E. Smith. She grew up on Summit Ridge and was very active in the Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church. She graduated from Dolores High School in 1941 and married Denton R. Hudgeons. The couple had three sons, Howard, Fred and Les.

Estelle lived many years in Galllup, NM, where she raised her sons and then moved to Santa Fe where she lived for 45 years. She was very active in the Pilot's Club and was most known as the "bear woman" of Santa Fe because she made stuffed bears for children who were admitted to the emergency room at Santa Fe Memorial Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister, her son, Fred Hudgeons and daughter-in-law Marjorie Hudgeons. She is survived by her sons, Howard D. Hudgeons, Les Hudgeons (Debbie) and daughter-in-law, Laurie Anne Hudgeons. Estelle is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren and two beloved granddogs.

A celebration service of her life was held at St. Philips United Methodist Church in Round Rock, Texas on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 10am.
