Linda Mary Chelf Obituary
Linda Mary Chelf of Dolores Colorado, passed away on April 21, 2017 at HopeWest Care Center in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Linda was born October 13, 1953 to Edward (Buck) and Madeline Fournier in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan where she spent most of her childhood. She graduated from Dansville High School where she met, then married, her husband of 45 years, Kevin Chelf. They have one daughter, Karen Cummings (Bob Belcastro) and five grandchildren, Kadan, Danika, Brenna, Alissa and Amber.

Linda's heart and passion were childhood development and education. She worked many years in the school systems of Michigan and Colorado before obtaining her bachelor's degree in education from Ft. Lewis College. Pursuing her love of reading and children she became the middle/high school librarian for Dolores School District. Linda retired but continued her mission as an active substitute teacher.

Linda was a beautiful, genuine, uncomplicated soul, never judging, always listening and living every moment for the absolute greatest joy of her life.... being a mother and a nana. She was nicknamed Skinner by her father because she was so skinny as a child. Linda was a small lady with a tremendously huge heart, always putting everyone before herself and giving all she had to give to her family. We will be forever grateful for her free-flowing spirit and inspiration to us and so many others. Linda, being an old soul but remaining young at heart, could recognize the same character and shared connections with many individuals on the same spiritual level.

Linda is preceded in death by her father Edward (Buck) Fournier. She is survived by her mother, Madeline Fournier; brother Dale (Cindy) Fournier; nieces Casey and Theresa; brother Dan (Pam) Fournier; nieces Sasha and Lacey; sister Edwina (Eric) Schmidt; niece Megan; and brother Ed Fournier.

A private memorial will be held Mother's Day weekend. A public memorial will be held July 8, 2- 5 pm at the Dansville Village Hall in Dansville, MI.

Our family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to HopeWest for taking such great care of all of us during this time. Please honor Linda by making memorial contributions to HopeWest Kids, 3090 North 12th Street, #B, Grand Junction, CO 81506 or @ hopewestco.org.
