Private graveside inturnment services for lifelong Cortez resident Omar Adrian Madrid will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sun. June 25 at the Cortez Cemetery.
Omar was born November 2, 1979 in Cortez, the son of John Andrew Wilfred and Maria Bertha (Campuzano) Madrid. He passed away Jan. 9, 2017 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Grand Junction, CO.
Omar worked for the Ute Mountain Casino for 12 years as a poker, blackjack, craps and roulette dealer. He was a wonderful husband and father--kind, caring and patient. His family meant everything to him. He will be greatly missed.
Omar is survived by his wife Alexandreia Madrid; 5 children, Marley and Jandrew Madrid and Christian, Kyra and Madison BlueEyes of Cortez; his mother Bertha Madrid, of Cortez; his brother Kevin Madrid (Renee) of Portland, OR; 7 uncles, 1 aunt and numerous cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and brother.

I was the same age as Kevin in the 5th grade we were in Mrs. STONeHOCKERS CLASS LEARNING ABOUT BUSINESS OMAR AND HIS MOTHER CaME TO OUR CLASS AND jOINED INTO THE ACTIVITIES. THE MOST MEMORABLE THOUGHT IS THAT OMAR TRULY LOOKED UP TO HIS BIG BROTHER KEVIN, AND HAD A SMILE WHEN KEVIN WOULD TEND TO HIM. WE ALL ENJOYED LITTLE OMAR IN OUR CLASS. HIS UNIQUE NAME IS A MEMORABLE SMILE ALSO. SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS.

Omar helped through a tough time in my life. He was a very caring and special person/friend. I am lost for words but do send my prayer to his family and mother. God Bless.......

Bertha so sorry for yet another untimely loss of another son. Nick really enjoyed being around Omar and Andre. Riding the good old yellow school bus. Omar kept him entertained with his amazing sense of humor. God Speed and bless your family. Jim and Marge Campbell.
