Thomas Melvin Whiteford Obituary
Thomas Melvin Whiteford passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at the age of 81.

Tom is predeceased by his parents, William and Elizabeth Whiteford, and brother, William Daniel Whiteford.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Virginia Marie Whiteford. They were married in New Castle, PA on May 21, 1955.

Tom is lovingly remembered by his five children, Thomas Whiteford (Karen), Hubbard, OH; Debra Granger, Jacksonville, FL; Robert Whiteford (Elaine), Tampa, FL; Ricky Whiteford (Teresa), Jacksonville, FL; and Terri Baldwin, Erie, PA. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Chrissy, Michael, James, Leigh-Ann, Shannon, Anton, and one great-grandchild, Nicholas. One loving sister survives him, Margaret (Peggy) Kirkwood, New Castle, PA; and many other cousins, nieces and nephews.

Tom was born in New Castle, PA on March 19, 1936. He attended New Castle High School and was part-owner and operator of Thrifty Market for many years. He was a butcher by trade and Sales Representative of Sugardale Meats.

Tom and his wife, Virginia, moved to Mancos, CO in 1986. He pursued his career as a butcher and soon opened his own meat processing business. He loved the Rocky Mountains and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Tom loved the Lord and he was an active member of First Baptist Church of Mancos where he devoted much of his time. He was also a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason.

Tom and his wife relocated to Jacksonville, FL in August of 2016 to be near family. He spent the last year of his life spending quality time with family, walking on the beach, fishing, and making new friends. Tom touched the lives of all who knew him with his kindness, and his sense of humor was always an inspiration to his family and friends.

A Memorial will be held at Harvest Baptist Church, 1057 Arlington Rd N, Jacksonville, FL 32211 on Tuesday, November 7th, 2017 at 1:00PM with Pastor Bryan Samms officiating. A reception will take place immediately following at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the or Community Hospice.
