Alfred N. Crist, Sr., of Lower Saucon Twp., passed peacefully into eternal rest on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem, surrounded by the love and prayers of his family. He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth A. (Wilson) Crist, who preceded him in death on June 4, 2019. Their marriage was a true partnership—built on faith, devotion, and a lifetime of shared memories. Born on February 23, 1937, in Springfield Township, Alfred was the son of the late Oscar, Sr. and Mary Edith Emma (Weaver) Crist. From an early age, he learned the values of hard work, honesty, and service—values that would guide him throughout his life.
Alfred was the proud owner and operator of Ossie & Sons Electric in Center Valley, a business he built with dedication and integrity. As a master electrician, he was known not only for his skill, but for his fairness, reliability, and the care he showed his customers and employees alike. He retired in 2005, leaving behind a respected name in the community and a legacy of craftsmanship.
His leadership extended beyond his business. Alfred was a founding member and former president of the Electrical Contractors of the Lehigh Valley, where he helped shape the profession and mentor others in the trade. He was also a faithful member of Springfield Mennonite Church in Coopersburg, where his quiet faith and servant’s heart were evident to all. Alfred attended Allentown High School and carried with him a lifelong pride in learning, faith, and community. Above all else, Alfred was a devoted family man. His greatest joy came from time spent with those he loved—sharing stories, offering guidance, and always showing up when he was needed.
He is lovingly survived by his sons, Alfred N. Crist, Jr. (Jamee) of Lower Saucon Township, and Matthew A. Crist of Easton; his siblings, Oscar J. (Dorothy) Crist of Emmaus, Catherine M. Daddona of Lower Milford Township, and Roberta Crist of Bowmanstown; three cherished grandchildren, Heather, Jocelynn, and Riley; and two great-grandchildren, Haleigh and Daniel. His legacy lives on in each of them.
Family and friends are invited to call from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 326 Main Street, Hellertown, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Following the service, all are invited to a repast at the Carriage House at Heintzelmans. Mr. Crist was one of my favorite people that I ever met in my life. Mr. and Mrs. Crist were so kind to my Mom and Dad and I´ll never forget that. I was really lucky to meet Al Jr. and grow up with him and Jamee. So many wonderful memories but this is a sad day for me.

My memories of Al center around church. He was very faithful. I sat in front of him most Sundays. I was usually greeted with a hug and a "How you doing today"? He just loved his Savior and he had an extraordinary love for people. When weather was bad, he helped us older people to and from the car. Always ready to help wherever needed. The last words I heard from him was when he closed our Sunday School Class with prayer, several weeks ago. Always praying from his heart. All he was hoping for is now a reality for him. He always said he couldn't sing, but now he's singing praises to God with the angels. Thank you Al, for all those whose life you touched while here on earth. My sympathy to his family, as they say "Goodby" to a special man.

Lord, thank you! Thank you for the wonderful gift you gave us in this man Alfred Crist Sr.
Truly this is a somber moment for me. Last night while lying in bed, I teared thinking about the passing of Al and I tried to reflect with memories of him. I’ve known Al since the early 1970s where I and my family first began attending the Allentown Mennonite Church on south 6th Street.
Not until Al’s passing did I realize more than ever what an incredible person Al was. Yes, I knew Al enough before this moment that he was an exceptional man of incredible humility and so full of life. A gift from God to those of us who knew him. Never a time was there, that in any gathering be it at church or more so of our families congregating for the holidays or in general when we visited him and Betty and they us, always it would certainly be an enjoyable one.
In the very moment of Al’s presence, the atmosphere was and always, one first of a genuine smile, followed with “hey how are ya”, then a humorous comment of any sort quickly leaving me laughing. Once you knew Al, it was expected. It was the kind of expectation that you always looked forward to. Having a bad day, run into Al, he would turn it into a great day. Simply, it was a God blessed true joy to be with and talk to Al.
Al was certainly a man amongst men. A man of honor, super smart, full of wit and wisdom, an excellent craftsman of his trade, an absolute hard worker, truly a man of his word on a handshake, and a loving and caring human being of a man. If you needed help in any way, Al was there immediately. Al had a huge heart of passion for life and compassion for everyone.
The life in Al, always brought out the best in all of us. If God had a wild and crazy younger brother, I’d almost think that Al fit the mold. Al loved all of us and we loved Al. Al epitomized the love of God and he exuded it and gave it to us all.
I thank God for giving us all the gift of Al. May God welcome you sir into his kingdom with great celebration.
I’m sure Al had God laughing soon on his arrival.
Al, we miss you and we will always love you!

Alfred was a gentle soul, when I first met him he greeted me with open arms. Like he knew me for years, our communication was for a short period but he was always kind and genuine. May he rest now in peace. I regret not reaching out to him sooner.
