Frank Morrone Obituary

Frank T. Morrone, 74 of Worcester passed away on Monday March 23, 2020 after a brief illness.

Frank was born and raised in Worcester, the son of the late Frank and Mary (Groccia) Morrone. He graduated from the former Classical High School- Served four years in the US Air Force Engineering Corps, during the Vietnam war.   While stationed in Montana Frank attended The Great Falls College, Engineering Program.  Upon discharge from service and return home, Frank met the “Love of his Life” Diane DiBaro, and together they raised three wonderful sons who were by his side during these last four months of illness.

Frank worked as a Structural Supervisor for NEPSCO/National Grid retiring after 45 years of service, he then was called back to work as a Project Manager in Rhode Island for two more years. Frank also started his own Construction Company - MCM Equipment, Inc. A Backhoe service working nights and weekends for over 20 years.

Frank is survived by his wife and best friend for the past 48 years Diane (DiBaro) Morrone; three devoted sons, Marc Morrone and daughter in law Deb of Princeton, Craig Morrone of Worcester, Matthew Morrone and his wife Chrissy of Holden;  His three grandchildren who he adored  and lovingly called him “Papa”, Milla, Madeline, and Joshua Morrone;  His mother in law Grace DiBaro;  sister in law, Gina DiBaro, brother in law, Ronald and wife Carolyn DiBaro;  two nieces Tracy Lopez of FL and Tanya Joubert of Holden; two great nephews Gus and Lenny; Other extended family members and many friends.

Frank’s enjoyment in life was spending time with his family, his friends and most of all his grandchildren. His favorite Holiday was Christmas where he enjoyed putting up all the trees and shopping for all the special gifts for all the kids.  Frank always kept busy working around the house; always had a project going on or he would just be in the garage shinning up his Corvette.  Frank was an impeccable person, always dressed sharply, hair in place, his cars and truck super clean, his home and yard magazine worthy.

When his grandchildren came to visit, he would stop all projects to ride bikes with them, play soccer, or whatever they wanted him to do and that turned him into the biggest kid of all.  They loved their Papa and he cherished every moment he spent with them in the backyard pool or attending their soccer and baseball games.  Frank enjoyed going to dance recitals, taking them to the Hanover or DCU for the Ice Shows.  He was truly a family guy.

He will certainly be missed by all who knew him. Frank was always ready to help a friend, a neighbor or who ever asked. Even though he loved being home with his family he also enjoyed the cruises he went on with Diane and the time they spent at their Condo at Myrtle Beach with family and friends.

Frank was also a longtime member of Our Lady of Loreto Parish and spent 15 years working and organizing the Italian Festival Beer Garden.  He was also a member of the (IBEW) International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

Due to the covid-19 outbreak, funeral services will be held privately.  Burial with U.S. Air Force honors will be in St John Cemetery.  A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.  The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St is honored to assist the family with arrangements.

A special thank you to best friends John and Mary Mahan for the love, support and time spent every day during this difficult period, and Geri Alberts a longtime friend and neighbor whose support was greatly appreciated.  In lieu of Flowers Memorial donations can be made to the New England Center for Stroke research, care of the University of Massachusetts, 55 Lake Ave, North 01605 or the Vet’s INC, 60 Grove Street, Worcester 01608

Dear Frankie, Dad & Papa.
There are no words telling you how much hurt and pain we are feeling right now. Little did we know that day we spoke to you on the phone Gods plan was to take you home that night. How we wish we were there telling you again how much we loved you. Our hearts will be forever broken; but we know Love is so much Stronger than death; even though we can't stop it; It will never take away all those great memories we have etched in our hearts. Our family chain is forever broken but even though you are no longer in this physical world, we know having Faith in God, you will be watching down over us in Spirit. Our memories will live on forever and remain in our Hearts. Love you,
Diane, Marc, Craig, Matt, Chrissy, Deb, Milla, Maddy, Joshua & Gina x
