Mary Norton Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Livingston Norton, long time resident of Cortez, CO, passed away on November 23, 2018 in Redding, CA at almost 97 years. No service is planned.

Born on December 4, 1921 in Sayre, OK to Fred P. Livingston, Sr. and Eliza R. Satterthwaite Livingston, Mary was the youngest of 8 children and is preceded in death by her parents, siblings and her husband, John O. Norton.

Mary finished school and moved to Ackmen, CO in 1937 with her parents and brothers Dewitt and Francis. On December 14, 1939 she married John O. Norton and moved to Cortez from the Pleasant View area in 1944. After many years of farming, Mary and John owned Shell and Texaco stations and a U-Haul business. Mary moved to Redding, CA in 2011.

John and Mary are survived by their children - Larry (Jackie) of Denver, Gary (Kim) of Greeley, Bonnie Good of Encinitas, CA and Constance Lancaster (Don) of Redding, CA; 8 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, several step-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and her cat, Cruiser.

Mary was a homemaker. She was a Charter Member of the Southwest Memorial Hospital Auxiliary - spending many hours volunteering as a Pink Lady. She volunteered for the American Heart Association and March of Dimes. She was a Charter Member of the Emblem Club (Elks), and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mary was a life long member of the United Methodist Church. Condolences may be sent to the family at 3043 Birch Way, Redding, CA 96002
