George "Frank" Phelps, 75, passed away unexpectedly at his home at Lebanon, CO on October 17, 2019.
He was born on January 8, 1944 in Pueblo, CO to McKinley and Frances Phelps. His family moved to Lebanon in 1945 to farm.
Frank went to Lebanon (rural) school grades 1-8 and attended high school in Cortez, graduating in 1962. He was on the high school varsity wrestling and football teams, qualifying while a freshman. He enjoyed these sports. After high school he spent a stint in the Army.
Due to his dad's health problems he came back to run the farm. He also worked on road construction and house construction, some done in Telluride.
Frank enjoyed the outdoors--hunting and fishing. At one time he ran Black & Tan Gosset Hounds. He was an animal lover, spending time with his horses, cattle and cattle dogs. He was a quiet guy who enjoyed visiting with family and friends.
He is survived by his brothers: McKinley, MD (Aafke), Roland and Fred; sisters, Dorothy and Anna; and his special four-legged friend "Speck"; along with several nieces and nephews.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; brother Robert (USAF); sisters, Bonnie, Laura and Evelyn; nephews Mike and Patrick; and brothers-in-law Ben, Dan and Cecil.
A memorial will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Ertel Funeral Home. George "Frank" Phelps
