James Trotta Obituary

On Saturday, May 11, 2024, James Richard Trotta Sr., 80, of Ohio Township, formerly of McCandless and Butler, passed away.
He was the beloved husband of 42 years of Becky Trotta; father of Debra (Allen) Bare, James (Justine) Trotta Jr., Jennifer (Joseph) Castiglione, Bethany (Robert) Hoy, Amy (Don) Smith, Scott Trotta and Mario J. Trotta; brother of John Larry (Julie) Trotta and Judy Codi; grandfather of Robert (Chelsea) Bare, David (Claire) Bare, Kathryn (Elijah) Thomas, Joshua and Sophia Trotta, Camille and Carina Trotta, Dashiell, William and Maxwell Clevenger and Daniel and Mary Jo Smith; and great-grandfather of Jackson, Lainey and Gracie Bare and Phoebe and Issac Bare.
Jim Trotta was a storyteller, a retired business executive and a committed Christian who loved his Lord Jesus Christ. Jim's passion for storytelling began at age 8, telling bedtime stories to his little sister, and continued with true-life stories that he has shared over the years with his wife Becky, their seven children and 12 grandchildren. Upon retirement, Jim continued to coach business executives as a strategy consultant while moonlighting as a screenwriter.
Jim served his country in a combat zone as a U.S. airman in the Vietnam War. His interest in travel as it relates to flight, aerospace and helping others continued during his career in business consulting. It was during those many road-warrior business plane trips that Jim's love for telling stories and hearing stories put him on a later path as an author.
In his community, Jim offered support as a lay leader in his church. Over the years, Jim had worked as an adjunct professor for several universities by teaching various undergraduate and master of business administration courses. He continued to participate as an active member of a business advisory board at a major university in Pittsburgh. Jim had a love for cooking and was the famous pizza maker in the family, a tradition passed down from his father.
TROTTA - Friends of James Richard Trotta Sr., who died Saturday, May 11, 2024, will be received from noon to 3 p.m. Thursday at SIMONS FUNERAL HOME, 7720 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh. A funeral service will take place after the visitation at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jim and I grew up on the "island" in Butler. Jim had the same exact birth date as me,11/27/1943. I remember the scouting trips with Jim. Back then he had a strong religious faith. Lost contact after high school. Did get in contact with him and saw him 2018. He was a very kind person. He is missed.

Jim loved Jesus and walked with His Lord daily. Jim so loved to witness and share The Word, obedient to his strong faith in God. He loved his family and was a "people person" for sure. Smiles came easy. Jim was welcomed in heaven with the words, "Good and Faithful servant", I know. Jim will be missed by many family and friends. Praise God for Jim's life.

Jim was a wonderfully kind man and so engaging! We all went to church and hung out on numerous occasions as good Christian friends. He loved his wife and his children!
We lost a truly wonderful friend and man but God has his arms around him now and he will never be forgotten!
