Melinda Mallard Greene

December 19, 1969 - February 11, 2026

Tega Cay, South Carolina - Melinda's life journey was completed on February 11, 2026, when she passed peacefully in her sleep from heart failure. Melinda was the wife of Edgar Dudley Greene III, Tega Cay, SC, and the mother of Sara Maple Greene, Chicago, IL, and Elizabeth Carson Greene, Boone, NC. Melinda was born on December 19, 1969 to William and Glenda Mallard in Augusta, GA. She attended Georgia Tech receiving a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering and a Master's degree in Environmental Engineering. She worked for the Environmental Protection Agency in Atlanta, GA first as a co-op student and then as an environmental engineer. Her team won a gold medal in 1998 for improving water in Atlanta. She took eight years off to focus on nurturing and raising her girls. Most recently, was working as a senior specialist and technical manager of environmental compliance at Michael Baker International.

Melinda was the faithful and loving wife to Dudley, a devoted and creative mother to Sara and Liz, a beloved and caring daughter of Glenda and Bill, and a kind and supportive friend to many relatives, friends, and colleagues. Her unexpected passing leaves a huge hole in all our lives. Her strength, good judgment, and loving manner live on in Sara and Liz. We all have been blessed by her love and she inspires us to live better lives.

Services will be held at The Episcopal Church of Our Savior, 144 Caldwell Street Rock Hill, South Carolina 29730, on Tuesday, February 17th at 2pm. Her family plans to have burial service in the mountains of North Carolina in the spring. Donations can be made in her memory to the American Heart Association.
