Samuel Parks Obituary

Samuel James Parks III, 72, of Urbana, MD, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026, in Frederick, MD.

Born on December 3, 1953, in Bethesda, MD, he was the son of the late Samuel James Parks Jr. and Constance Parks, 89, of Frederick. A 1972 graduate of Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, MD, Sam was the owner of SJ Parks Paving from the 1970s through the late 2000s. His tireless work ethic was known to all, and he personally paved numerous roadways and driveways throughout Frederick and Montgomery Counties.

Sam was preceded in death by wives, Sharon Kay Parks (1954-2003) and Melissa Flynn (1971-2015). In addition to his mother, Constance, he is survived by his six siblings, Charles Parks, Brenda Hill, Patricia Darling, Michael Parks, Susan Connors, and Glen Parks, along with five children, Clayton, Samuel (Jamie), Christopher, Faith and Gabriel.

A Follower of Christ, he enjoyed boating, fishing, and collecting heirlooms. He was also an avid John Wayne and Clint Eastwood movie buff. An animal lover, he raised several dogs, cats, and even goats over the years. Sam was also a connoisseur of fine Frederick cuisine, with some of his favorites being the all-you-can-eat crabs at Jug Bridge Restaurant, fried chicken from Watson's, and the Pupu platter at China Garden.

One of Sam's final wishes was to express his love and appreciation to his family, friends and the entire Frederick community. A celebration of life for Samuel James Parks III will be held in the warmer months. Further details will be announced by the family at a later date.
