Carolyn Gavett Obituary

Carolyn A. Gavett, 74, of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, died of complications from pneumonia, on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, in Hyannis, Massachusetts, while in the process of moving to the area to build a life on Cape Cod near family.

Carolyn, or "Lynn" as many knew her, was a native of Pennsylvania. She attended various colleges, ending up with a Masters from Simmons. She retired after enjoying a successful career as an executive at Rodale Press Publishing Company for many years. At Rodale she met Mark Bricklin, who became her husband and later preceded her in death, in 2021.

She enjoyed her Brittany rescue dogs, traveling, and was an award winning quilter who was very involved with the Palmetto Quilt Guild of Hilton Head. She also spent years volunteering with Turtle Trackers, a non profit organization whose mission is to assist with the preservation of endangered sea turtles.

Lynn was predeceased by her brother Wes, and is survived by her brother, Wallace Gavett; her nephews, Joshua and Eli Gavett; along with two stepchildren and several step-grandchildren.

Honoring Lynn's wishes, no official memorials or services will be held. However, contributions may be made to the American Brittany Rescue Inc- Jake Fund located in Sugar Grove, Illinois.
