Dorothy Castro Obituary

Dorothy Jean Castro, 88, of Euless, Texas, passed away Friday, Jan. 23, 2026, at HEB Hospital in Bedford, Texas.

Dorothy was born in Sonora on Nov. 11, 1937, to Ivy and Mary Frances Manion Miller. She dedicated many years as a civilian employee supporting U.S. military bases, including Fort Knox, Fort McPherson, Georgia, Naval Air Station Dallas and Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, Texas.

She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother, known to many of the children as "Gram" and "Dor Dor." Dorothy was an active member of Cross City Baptist Church, formerly First Baptist Church of Euless. She had fierce faith in our Lord and Savior, trusting Him deeply, and she loved her family with her whole heart. She leaves a legacy of unwavering faith, quiet strength and deep love a life lived in service to God and devotion to family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Tomas (Tom) Castro; two brothers, Bernard and Jimmie Miller; and two sisters, Evelyn Cruse and Virginia Ramsey.

Survivors include her son, Mike Miller (Karen); a daughter, Susan Wakefield (Brian); a stepdaughter, Carrie Skruggs (James); a stepson, Steve Castro; six grandchildren, Tyler Wakefield, Reed Miller, Ivy Miller, Tannah Overall (Jonathan), Jenah Vogel (Paul) and Alyssa Skruggs; a great-granddaughter, Shea Vogel; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

The funeral is at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, at Manakee Funeral Home in Sonora with burial in Sonora Cemetery.

Visitation is from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Hosparus Health Central Kentucky or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
