On Wednesday, Walter William Clarkson Jr. (Bill to his friends and family) left this earth to be with the Lord and his beloved wife Frankie. Bill's greatest joy was seeing his children: Cassie Richardson and Mary Roddy and grandchildren: Heather, William, Anna, Laura Ann, Jenna and Thomas. Bill loved being active, both with his church and to outrun or bike his grandchildren. He served as a Marine in the Korean war, and his training followed him throughout his life. During his life he was an electrician, a race car driver, was part of the NASA lunar module development in New Mexico, and a teacher where he taught at Midland Community College for over 25 years. In his own words, Bill "lived life how I wanted to, and it was a great one." He is preceded in death by his children Roger and Charles Clarkson and his wife Frankie Clarkson who "beat him to the gate".
Visitation will be held at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home on Monday August 26, 2024 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at St. Nicholas Episcopal Church at 10:00am. Interment will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Billy was a classmate of mine in high school. We did not date but were good friends and enjoyed each other to pal around with. It was always good to see him again at the few class reunions he attended. We always had fun memories to talk about.
