Obituary published on Legacy.com by Williams Memorial Chapel - Brewton on Feb. 10, 2026.
Annie Mae "Clementine" Martin, born February 23, 1935, has lived a life filled with faith, love, and deep devotion to her family and to the Lord. A lifelong resident of
Brewton, Alabama, Annie Mae has been a steady light to all who have known her, reflecting Christ's love through her kindness, generosity, and servant's heart.
Annie Mae loved the simple joys God placed in her life. She found happiness in her kitchen cooking for those she loved, singing praises at church, and celebrating the beauty of the Christmas season. Her faith guided her every day, and her love for the Lord was evident in the way she cared for others and cherished time with her family.
She was known for her loving but firm spirit - if you got out of line, Annie Mae was never afraid to correct you with a fly swatter, a lesson usually followed by laughter, love, and a reminder that discipline and care often go hand in hand. It was just one of the many ways she showed how deeply she cared.
In her quieter moments, Annie Mae loved working crossword puzzles and was a notably good speller, always taking pride in knowing the right word and getting it just right. In her younger years, she delighted in water skiing and later enjoyed shopping, reading, and collecting clocks that marked the precious time she valued so dearly. She always enjoyed a good meal at David's Catfish. Annie Mae had a special love for animals, especially her dogs, whom she fed and cared for.
She was a devoted mother in every sense of the word. Her only son fondly remembers that she made his lunch every single day for school, always packing two hamburgers - a simple, faithful act of love that never went unnoticed. For her daughters, Annie Mae poured that same love into time spent together, patiently drawing, cutting, and creating paper dolls with them, nurturing creativity, closeness, and memories that would last a lifetime. Every summer, Annie Mae and her husband, Theo, packed up all four children and took them on family vacations to Fort Morgan, creating traditions filled with laughter, togetherness, and love.
Music brought her joy throughout her life - from her first movie experience watching Jailhouse Rock in 1957, to her lifelong love of Elvis Presley, and later her admiration for Adam Lambert. She was a proud graduate of W.S. Neal High School and carried her Brewton roots close to her heart.
Above all, Annie Mae loved her family deeply and unconditionally, considering them one of God's greatest blessings.
Annie Mae was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Theo Martin, and her parents, Francis Durden and Isabelle Durden. As well as her Grandson in law Jason Lowery, and Great Great Granddaughter Josie Grace Purvis.
She is survived by her loving children: Ginny Tyler, Carol Crosby, Tina (Jeff) Cardwell, and Jamie (Sue) Martin; three siblings, Bobbie Cardwell, Betty Carroll, and Steve Durden; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were a great joy in her life and a testament to the legacy of love she built through her family.
