Betty Duggins Obituary

Betty Ruth Poindexter Duggins, 88, of Asheboro passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026 at North Pointe Assisted Living in Randleman.

Betty was born on September 26, 1937 in Surry County to parents Richard and Alma Pilson Poindexter. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Ramseur and worked for many years in the cafeteria at Ramseur Elementary School. Betty loved children and babysat for many years. Ms. Duggins loved cooking for her family and friends and was known as an excellent cook. In her free time, Betty enjoyed antiquing, making ceramics, and going to the mountains as well as the beach with her husband, Richard.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Duggins was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Earl Duggins; as well as siblings, Evelyn Thorpe, Polly Wright, and Gilbert Poindexter.

Ms. Duggins is survived by her step-son, Jody Duggins and wife Beth of Franklin, NC; grandchildren, William and Jack Duggins, both of Franklin; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Randy and Rebecca Duggins of Climax; nephews, Jay Thorpe and wife Sherrie of Randleman, Doug Poindexter and Glen Poindexter, both of Siler City; nieces, Donna Crockett of Woodlawn VA and Cheryl Watson of Hillsville VA; and great nieces and nephews, Jayson, Weslee, Harrison, and Addison Thorpe.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, February 15, 2026 at First Baptist Church of Ramseur with Rev. Wayne Dunn and Rev. Danny Vuncannon officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 2:45 pm at the church prior to the service. Burial will follow at Sunset Knoll Cemetery.
