It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our Mother, Carol (King) Jacobson, 75, on Sunday, February 8. She was born on February 25, 1950 in
Williamsport, PA to George and Helen King.
She is survived by her children: Jeremy Jacobson of Columbus, Ohio, Heather (Jud) Van Syckle of Columbus, Ohio; her grandchildren: Kean and Rory; her sisters Cheryl (Keith) Byers of Douglasville, Georgia and Colleen (Gary) Oechler of Montoursville, Pennsylvania and many cherished siblings in-law, nieces and her favorite nephew.
A caregiver by nature, Carol's professional career spanned decades as an accomplished Nurse, Hospital Administrator and Director of Public Health. In retirement, her heart for service continued as she became a Guardian ad Litem, advocating for children throughout Central Ohio.
While we could go on about her many professional accomplishments and the lasting impact she made on hospitals across Ohio, what we'll remember most was her fierce and unwavering love and support for her family and friends.
If you knew our mom, you knew her strength, witty sense of humor, quiet intelligence, humble pride, and feisty demeanor. She was the one you could count on to be reasonable, responsible and the giver of sage advice. She was fun – always up for anything and more than willing to bend the rules or toe the line in the name of a good time. She was strong – so, so strong – whatever she set her mind to she excelled at and whatever adversity she came against she flew through with grace, poise, dignity, and a healthy dose of "screw you."
To us, she was our loudest supporter - figuratively and literally - especially in sport stands, where she often earned a "be quiet, mom/Nana." But it was always said with love, because we knew she was our everything - our person, our whole world.
Simply put, she was the absolute best and we were beyond lucky to call her mom, Nana, sister, aunt, and friend.
We invite you to join us celebrate her remarkable life and legacy on February 28 from Noon - 2:00pm at Rusty Bucket (7800 Olentangy River Road, Columbus 43235).
Also, if you're looking for a way to honor her memory, we kindly ask you donate to Inner Soul Wellbeing at Rippling Light - Memorial Gift - Inner Soul Wellbeing. Amanda was instrumental in end-of-life preparations, making sure mom was comfortable and secure in her transition.
With warm regards, her loving family: Jeremy, Heather, Jud, Kean and Rory
