Ching-Yu Chang Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Doherty Funeral Homes, Inc. - Pike Creek on Feb. 3, 2026.
Ching-Yu Chang, age 90, of Greenville, Delaware, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, January 19, 2026.

Born in Heilongjiang, China, he was the beloved son of the late I-Cheng Chang and Ai Hsuen Chen Chang. Mr. Chang pursued his education with dedication and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from a university in Taiwan. In later years, he immigrated to the United States, where he built a meaningful life rooted in hard work, community, and family.

Mr. Chang was the owner and operator of several mushroom farms, a profession that reflected both his entrepreneurial spirit and his deep connection to the land. Known for his remarkable green thumb, he took great pride in growing vegetables and generously shared the best of his harvest with members of the Chinese American Community Center, where he was an active and cherished member.

A man of many quiet talents, Mr. Chang loved to sing and was well known for having the most beautiful voice among his peers. Above all else, he was a devoted husband. He shared an extraordinary 65 years of marriage with his beloved wife, spending every day together, including his final moments, a testament to their enduring love and partnership.

Mr. Chang is survived by his wife, Hsi-shih Liu Chang; his son, Paul Chang; his daughter, Min Chang (Daniel Chu); and his two beloved granddaughters.

Services for Mr. Chang will be private.
