Charles "Eddie" Edward Cross, Sr., of Theodore, AL, met his Lord and Saviour on Thursday, February 12th, 2026, at the age of 77 after a short stint at UAB medical center. His wife and 2 sons were by his side singing his favorite hymns and songs as he passed.
He is preceded in death by; his father, Waylon James Cross; his mother, Mary Nell Shrauger; his granddaughter, Jilliann Renee Cross; and brother, James Glenos Cross, "Glen".
Eddie is survived by; his loving wife of 57 years, Judy Barlow Cross; his sons, Charles "Chuck" (Phyllis Reeves) Edward Cross, Jr., of Mobile, AL, and Christopher "Chris" (Jennifer) Patrick Cross, Sr., of Eustis, FL; his 4 grandchildren, Taylor Jackson Cross, Emma (Ethan) Cross Watts, Addison Elyse Cross, Christopher (Pate) Patrick Cross, Jr.; his brother, Phillip (Judy) Waylon Cross; and a host of his nieces, nephews, and friends
Eddie was born in Mobile, AL, on November 18th, 1948. He graduated from Murphy High School in 1966 and married his high school sweetheart, Judy, on September 21st, 1968. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1968-1970 during the Vietnam War. Upon completing his service to our country, he began a 50 plus year career in the paper and janitorial business with Dees Paper Company, Paper Products Company of Mobile, and Mobile Janitorial where he retired in December 2021.
He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Theodore where he served as a deacon, youth Sunday school leader, and in various other roles behind the scenes.
He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and lifelong friends. He had a quick wit, loved comedies, ME tv, and watching Alabama football.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 18th, from 10:00 A.M. till 12 P.M.; at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 12 P.M. following the visitation on Wednesday, February 18th. Graveside services will be immediately following the service at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Homewood Church of Christ in Homewood, AL, and their hospitality ministry which provides rent free accommodations for families who are seeking long term options while their loved ones are being treated in the UAB clinical setting in Eddie's name.
