Emily Marchino Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Emily Jane Marchino, 91. Emily was born on March 11, 1934, in Vincennes the daughter of Chester and Helen (Bell) Henderson. She departed this life on January 21, 2026, at Bridgepointe Health Campus leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Emily was a proud 1952 graduate of Lincoln High School and remained in contact with her classmates and participated in Homecoming activities. Emily married Joseph Maurice Marchino on May 24, 1952 and was a proud and dedicated farm wife and homemaker, embodying the virtues of hard work and commitment. Maurice preceded her in death on July 21, 1991.

Her life revolved around her family and the values she upheld, greatly influencing those around her. A longtime member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Emily faithfully attended the Old Cathedral, where she found comfort and community in her religious devotion. She volunteered for many church activities, especially the bereavement dinner committee at the Old Cathedral where she was famous for her noodle making. She participated in women's clubs and other activities such as dancing and bowling with her husband.

Emily was actively involved in 4-H when she was younger and met her future husband at a 4-H event. She was a faithful spectator at sport and music events at the South Knox School Corporation that involved her children and grandchildren. She and Maurice were co-founders of the South Knox Holiday Cotillion nearly 60 years ago. She was often seen at the Knox County Fair watching her children and grandchildren and active in the Knox County Pork Producers. She also enjoyed collecting newspaper clippings and memorabilia of all her family, sewing and repairing clothes for everyone, crafting, gardening, and canning. However, her biggest joys were cooking meals on the family farm for anyone that was there and traveling with her husband and sisters to many places all over the country wherever her family might have been.

She is survived by her children, Joseph Marchino II and his wife Becky of Liberty, MO, Rex Marchino and his wife Susan, Sara Jane Hope and her husband Larry, both of Vincennes and Rob Marchino and his wife Tabby of Wheatland; brother, Chester Eugene Henderson of Louisville, Colorado; sister-in-law, Mary A. Marchino deBaca of Huxley, Iowa; her grandchildren, Jennifer Holden and her husband Joseph, Anthony Marchino and his wife Katie, Stacey Marchino, Brooke Hendrix and her husband Charles III, Kourtney Schenk and her husband Adam, Justin Marchino and his wife Laurissa, Brandon Marchino and his fiancé Sydney McGiffen; her great grandchildren, Addyson Marchino, Harper Hendrix, Charles Hendrix IV, Charlotte Marchino, Grady Marchino, Piper Marchino, AJ Schenk and Connor Schenk. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Emily is preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Helen Henderson, her husband, Joseph Maurice Marchino, three sisters, Helen Lucille Henderson, Sarah Elizabeth Henderson, Inez Bowman, and sister-in-law Lois A. Marchino.

Friends may visit with Emily's family from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at Old Cathedral Catholic Church, 205 Church Street, Vincennes, IN 47591. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at the conclusion of visitation beginning at 1:00 pm with Rev. Tony Ernst celebrating. Emily will be laid to rest next to her husband in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The Marchino family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Old Cathedral Building Fund.

The family wishes to express their extreme gratitude for the entire staff at Bridgepointe Health Campus, Interventional Radiology at Good Samaritan Hospital, and Ascera Care Hospice for the wonderful, loving care provided to their mother.
