Herbert Baumann Obituary
Born September 16, 1939, in Brooklyn, NY, Herb was the son of the late Fred and Gerda Baumann. He served in the US Navy from 1957 to 1959. In his younger years, he and his father owned and operated Bertony Knitting Mill in White Mills. He later began working at Thomas Fishing Lures in Hawley where he worked the metal press.
He is survived by one daughter: Carolyn Lorent and her husband Matthew of Honesdale; two sons: Craig Baumann and his wife Terri of Seneca, SC and Jeffrey Baumann and his wife Sherri of Hawley; his grandchildren: Skye Rickard and her husband Brice and Katie and Sara Baumann; two great grandchildren: Deacon and Matyson Rickard; his longtime companion: Barbara Tscheu; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Herb was preceded in death by his sister, Sonya Gumble.

Honesdale, Pennsylvania 18431.
Private cremation was held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel. Inurnment will take place in Green Gates Cemetery in Spring 2026.

My Dad, Frederick Riecke, Grandma, Anna Riecke (new Vogt) and Grandpa Fritz Riecke.

I believe that Herbert was related to my Grandmother Anna Riecke (nee Vogt). I only met Herbert and his wife Sherri once when my family; Dad-Frederick Riecke, Mom-Frances Riecke and my brothers, Alan, Eric and me Gary Riecke. Both of my parents were deaf. My brothers and I are all hearing.
It may have been for the marriage of Herbert and Sherri. I vividly remember Fritz, his dad, giving us a tour of the Knitting Mills. Fritz took the keys from his pocket and opened the Coca Cola vending machine so we could each have a drink.
That was so long ago I don´t even remember how young I was. I´ll be 73 this year.
I know my middle brother Eric (75) would call Herbert to chat on the phone often.
I wish I had kept in touch as it is my joy of being in this family and tracking its ancestry.
My deepest, heartfelt condolences to Carolyn, Craig and Jeffery and all family and friends.

1 is a photo of the passport when my grandparents and my dad moved back from Magdeburg Germany, in 1923. They moved back to Germany sometime after my dad was born in 1917.
