Joel Charles Weibelt passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family at the age of 84. Born and raised in New Orleans he is the beloved husband of the late Joan Triche Weibelt. He is a proud longtime resident of Lakeview.

He is survived by his children Joel Weibelt Smith (Charles), Jeffrey Weibelt, and Richard Weibelt. Also survived by grandchildren Morgan Weibelt Cleveland (Dylan), Madeline Grace Weibelt, and Jonah Charles Smith, and great grandson Harvey Grant Cleveland. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Theresa "T" Barlow.

He worked over 30 years for Texaco Oil Company. He truly enjoyed umpiring for the St. Dominic Summer Softball League for many years where he made many friends.

He is a three time Cancer survivor who was a man of deep faith who dedicated his life to his children. He also was an avid lover of going to the racetrack and a lifelong Saints fan.

Special thanks to the staff at Passages Hospice.

He never met a stranger and greeted everyone with a "Hey Dawlin!"

A private viewing will be held for the immediate family.

Visitation and a memorial Mass will be held and open to the public on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Saint Dominic Catholic Church at 775 Harrison Ave in New Orleans.

Visitation will be held from 10:00AM to 12:00 Noon with Catholic Mass held at 12:00 Noon.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Joel C. Weibelt's name to the American Cancer Society.
