Mr Cieply was a wonderful and dedicated teacher. My son was ill and unable to attend school for a month during his junior year at Lake Park HS. Mr Cieply would come to our house everyday after school to tutor him. He would not accept any payment. We never forgot his kindness.

Joe's greatest contribution to LPHS: he was the father of AP Math one of the first AP if not THE FIRST AP classes taught.
Joe was one of the most intelligent and humble staff ever who contributed to and continue contributing. Joe's AP Legacy will live on ad infinitum. Ave Atque Vale Joseph Cieply.

I am standing upon the seashore.
A ship, at my side, spreads her white sails to the moving breeze and starts for the blue ocean.
She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.
Then, someone at my side says, `There, she is gone.´
Gone where?
Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast, hull and spar as she was when she left my side. And, she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.
Her diminished size is in me - not in her.
And, just at the moment when someone says, `There, she is gone,´ there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout, `Here she comes!´
And that is dying...

Joe was a model teacher with character and compassion. He taught with knowledge and pride. His quiet demeanor belied his passion for teaching and love of working with young people. He was a stalwart of the math department.
My condolences to his family.

When I was a new teacher, Joe always treated me with kindness and respect. His students loved him as well.
When Joe discovered I liked Tootsie Rolls, he said I was the only person he knew who liked them. From that day on, he would always bring me his Halloween leftovers!
I was very honored to have taught with him at LPHS.
My thoughts are with his wife and family.

May he always walk in sunshine
And God´s love around him flow.
For the happiness he gave us,
No one will ever know.
It broke our hearts to lose him,
But he did not go alone.
A part of us went with him,
The day God called him home.
A million times we needed him.
A million times we´ve cried.
If love could only have saved him,
He never would have died.
The Lord be with him and may he rest in peace.
"We never lose those we give to God."

Joseph Cieply´s opus was teaching generations of kids the discipline to understand and apply mathematics. Sitting next to me in AP Calculus were future lawyers, doctors, engineers, and teachers who, when hearing the name "Mr. Cieply", would smile and say, "That guy is a great teacher." Of course, he´ll be missed. But, to me, he´ll never be gone. Because I use what he taught me every single day. He always signed our yearbooks, "Peace, Mr. Cieply." Well, peace be to you, Mr. Cieply. And with your spirit. Chris Gianvecchio, MD LPHS´87

Mr. Cieply was my all-time favorite teacher. He was my AP BC Calculus teacher at Lake Park High School in the late 80´s. He always pushed us to be our best. As a teacher now, I appreciate even more his teaching style and always tell my students about him. I was one of only a couple girls in that class and Mr. Cieply made sure my voice was heard. After the AP test, he sent me a card to tell me my score and to thank me for being in his class. I will never forget how wonderful that made me feel. Thank you, Mr. Cieply, for being such an inspiration to me. Rest in Peace.
