Josephine Gay Obituary

Josephine Pearson Gay, age 85, of Gordo, AL died February 7, 2026 at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Flatwoods Baptist Church with Bro. Ryan James and Bro. Dusty Jones officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at the church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Gay; son, Wyatt Pearson; her parents; sisters, Paulette Wallace and Margene Wyres and brothers, David Hall and Roy Hall.
Survivors include her daughter, Carol Herring and husband, Perry; son, Carl Pearson and wife, Renee; sister, Linda Johnson and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Josephine was born March 15, 1940 in Pickens County, Alabama to the late Horton Hall and Opal Ligon Hall. She was a member of Flatwoods Baptist Church and a retired secretary for Pickens County High School.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Paul Gay, Hannah Church, Flatwoods Baptist Church, The Pits and Jo Jo Seymer.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Flatwoods Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 778 Flatwoods Road, Gordo, AL 35466.
