Julie A. Schoelzel, age 67, formerly of Colby, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026 at her home in Merrillan.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford. Rev. Donald Bruce will officiate. Family and friends are welcome from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.

Julie was born on March 8, 1958 the daughter of Darnell and Janice (Gaetz) Schoelzel in Colby. She graduated from Colby High School. Julie worked at the Clark County Jail and Occupational Development Center.

Julie enjoyed making jewelry and sharing with her family. She also liked to go fishing. Julie especially loved children and especially her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Julie is survived by her mother, Janice; her brother, Duane (Rhonda) Schoelzel of Marathon; six nieces and nephews: Shannon (Brady) Salter, Ryan Schoelzel, Brooke (Ray) Krause, Britny (Riley) Knack, Stephanie (Adam) Lemmer and Shayne (Emily) Schoelzel; nine great-nieces and great-nephews: Trey, Brynleigh, Moutrie, Bode, Charles, Thaddeus, Oliver, Milton and Mason. She is further survived by two Aunts: Carol (Dennis) Kuehling of Unity and Sandy Hudak of Marshfield; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Darnell; two brothers, David and Donald "Shorty" Schoelzel; many Aunts and Uncles.

The family would like to send a special thank you to Beth Bryan and her family for the compassionate care Julie received these past few years and all of her caretakers that took great care of her over the years.
