Schmidt Funeral Home - BrookshireKevin Dale Johnson, a spirited soul who embraced life with exuberance, passed away on July 28, 2025, in Sealy, Texas. Born on February 23, 1961, in Port Arthur, Texas, Kevin was known for his outgoing nature and his infectious laughter that could brighten any room.
An alumnus of Thomas Jefferson High School, Kevin carried with him a wealth of memories and experiences that shaped his vibrant personality. His life was woven with the threads of love, laughter, and shared moments, particularly those cherished times spent with his family, the heart of his proudest accomplishments.
Kevin found profound joy in pursuing his hobbies: whether it was hitting the green for a round of golf, tending to his yard with dutiful care, casting his line during a fishing trip, or sharing a drink while the sweet strains of blues music and harmonica filled the air. His easy-going charm and genuine love for life can never be overstated.
Together with his beloved wife, Renee Johnson, they celebrated their union on May 28, 1988, in Houston, Texas. This marriage was not just a union but a testament to a love that flourished through the years, creating a warm and nurturing environment for their children: Charlsye (Kevin), Doug (Heather), and Kelsey along with the grandchildren: Heidi, Hayden, and Drew. It was in the joyful chaos of family life that Kevin truly thrived, taking pride in his role as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He also found great joy and pride in holding the title of brother to Benny (Terry) Johnson and Tim (Laura) Johnson.
He leaves behind a group of loyal companions in the form of his cherished dogs Oakley, Ash, Jax, and Cuervo whose wagging tails and boundless energy filled his days with unwavering companionship.
The loss of Kevin is deeply felt, and he is preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Idell Johnson, and his brother N.L. In the tapestry of life he woven, Kevin will forever remain a vibrant thread that brings smiles even in sorrowful moments.
Special thanks are extended to Acara Hospice for the compassionate care provided in Kevin's final moments. As we remember him, we carry forward the legacy of his spirit, finding comfort in the memories and the love he so generously shared. Kevin will forever be remembered as a beacon of joy, a man whose laughter and love will echo in the hearts of all who knew him.
Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 16, 2025 at the central campus of Kingsland Baptist Church located at 20555 Kingsland Blvd, Katy, TX 77450. The family is requesting that guests wear Hawaiian shirts or bright colors.
