LARRY DEATRICK
Larry Deatrick, 76, of Ickesburg, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Penn State Holy Spirit Hospital.
Born May 16, 1949 in East Pennsboro Twp, PA, he was the son of the late Walton C. and Romaine (Lehman) Deatrick.
Larry graduated from West Perry High School in 1967 with honors where he was a member of the FFA all four years. He immediately joined the U.S. Army and was deployed to Vietnam.
He was an over the road trucker for ABF until 2000 with “more miles going backward than most people have going forward!” His CB handle was Sneaky Deac.
Larry owned L&M Deatrick and Sons Trucking with his wife and was known for driving his yellow Kenworth W900L with his signature handle bar mustache and his reflecting orange sunglasses.
He loved working outside on his trucks and would tell Mindy, “Woman go make me a Pepsi!”
A devoted family man, he loved spending time with his family and cherished his grandkids. In his free time he loved to sit out tanning in the sun by their pool. Larry made friends easily anywhere he went and always had a joke up his sleeve.
Surviving are his wife of 50+ years, Mindy (Mitten) Deatrick, three sons: Larry (Summer) of Shermans Dale, Waylon (Mallory) of Ickesburg and Luke (Kristina) of Mt. Holly Springs, four grandchildren: Jaylon, Jayson, Luke and Max. Also surviving are two sisters: Joyce Geesaman of Elliotsburg and Beverly Springer (Paul) of Grantville, a brother: Dwayne (Donna) of New Bloomfield and sister in law Tammy.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Marlin and Ronnie.
A visitation will be held on February 7, 2026 from 12 Noon until 2:00 PM at the Carlisle Fire and Rescue Services, 177 Carlisle Springs Rd., Carlisle, PA 17013. The New Bloomfiled VFW will provide military honors at 2:00 PM followed by a Celebration of Life and a luncheon. All are encouraged to share memories.
