LuElla Trosdahl, 97, passed away on Thursday, February 12th, 2026, at the Good Samaritan Society nursing home in Battle Lake, Minnesota, surrounded by her family.
LuElla Mae Trosdahl was born on July 22, 1928 in Battle Lake, Minnesota the daughter of Melvin and Lenora (Lee) Erickson. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Battle Lake and graduated from Battle Lake High School in 1946.
LuElla and Elmer Trosdahl were married on November 23rd, 1946 in the First Lutheran Church in Battle Lake. After their marriage they farmed in Nidaros Township and in 1952, they purchased their farm. They lived in Hoyt Lakes for two years then returned to their farm by Clitherall. LuElla was a partner with Elmer on the dairy farm, feeding calves along with many other chores, working side by side daily along with being a homemaker. In 1982, they retired from the farm and moved into Battle Lake. LuElla worked for the Fergus Falls State Hospital, Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center, Koep Group Home in Fergus Falls, cooked for a family in Fergus Falls, and catered with Marilyn Sandahl, Myrt Johnson, and Pam Trosdahl. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, canning baking, embroidering, and square dancing with the Pairs and Squares. LuElla enjoyed visiting with friends and especially enjoyed her family and grandkids. She was a member of the Nidaros Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid (WELCA), Sons of Norway of Vining, Homemakers Club, Pairs and Squares dancing group and had been a 4-H leader.
She is survived by her five children, Ervin (Pam) Trosdahl of Fergus Falls, Cheryl “Sherry” Pedro of White Bear Lake, David (Utamae) Trosdahl of Dumaguete, Philippines, Douglas (DeeAnn) Trosdahl and Jon (Jodi) Trosdahl both of Battle Lake; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Bradley (JoAnne) Trosdahl and Katie, Brent Trosdahl, Lawson and Dalton, Rachel (Vern) Newman, Vern Jr. (Brita Sigrid) and Benjamin, Austin Strong, Anthony (Nikki, Xaiden Niedermayer) Trosdahl, Lindsey Trosdahl, Brianna Trosdahl, Bryson Trosdahl, Adam (Tai) Trosdahl, Kaylee, Sydnee, Cadence, Kush, and Korbin, Averee, Allison (Aaron) Buehler, Cian, Owen and Adian, Austen, Asher, Shelby (Brittany)Trosdahl, Teddy and Turner, Dean (Tiffany) Saurer, Emma, Jayden and Leia, Dustin Sauer, Cayson and Camden, Kari (Ben Karsnia) Saurer, Ayla and Rylie, Ryker, Jacob (Kristy) Hanson, Logan, Payten, Easton, Adam Hanson, Theresa, Daniel and Olivia, Jacob (Montana,Veda Evavold) Trosdahl and Nicholas (Ellie) Trosdahl; and many friends.
LuElla was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Trosdahl, her parents, Melvin and Lenora Erickson, three sisters, Adeline Campbell, Verna Anderson and Genevieve Erickson; two brothers, Bert and Roger Erickson; and son-in-law, Joseph J. Pedro Jr.
A Funeral Service will be held 11 am, Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Nidaros Church in rural Clitherall, MN, with a visitation beginning at 9 am. Burial will take place following the service at Nidaros Cemetery.
