Mary Olindo, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on February 5, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She courageously fought cancer for two years, tirelessly battling for more moments with those she loved. She was 64.
Born in Philadelphia on October 14, 1961, she was the daughter of the late Felix Russo and Nina (Beddia) Russo, of Warwick, PA. Her parents migrated to Pennsylvania from Sicily which deeply shaped her childhood in Italian culture. She was raised bilingual, grounded in family and faith and was the most dutiful and loyal daughter. Her brothers remained her lifelong best friends.
Mary graduated from Archbishop Ryan High School in 1979 and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Holy Family University, Philadelphia, in 1983.
As a young nurse, Mary cared for a handsome patient whose father acted as matchmaker. This marked the beginning of a beautiful love story with her husband Mike, which lasted 38 years as of July 11, 2025.
Mary spent over 30 years saving precious little lives as a neonatal intensive care nurse at Holy Redeemer Hospital. It was there that she formed a treasured sisterhood with coworkers who became lifelong friends.
She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church,
Sellersville, PA, where she taught CCD classes. An avid reader, she loved spending time at the Indian Valley Public Library, Telford. She also enjoyed going to plays and shows with her daughter at the Fulton Theater in
Lancaster, PA.
Mary's life's purpose was to be a mother and grandmother and she fulfilled that role with perfection. She put everyone's needs before her own, sacrificing anything for the happiness of her family and children, Christina, Nick and Vincent. She filled their childhood with countless happy memories and created a home that was safe, warm and full of love. Her unwavering support, generosity and guidance were unmatched.
The greatest joy in Mary's life were her two grandchildren, Marissa and Luca. She loved being their Nanna and spent every minute with them that she could. Mary had a wonderful sense of humor and was always laughing, joking and being playful with them. She was incredibly interactive and fully present in their lives, making even the simplest moments fun and memorable. She also loved spoiling them, often arriving with thoughtful gifts and surprises that brought big smiles and pure excitement.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her loving husband, Michael Olindo, of
Sellersville, PA, her daughter, Christina Hoover and her husband Matthew, of
Mount Joy, PA, two sons, Nicholas Olindo and his wife Mei, of
Atlanta, GA and Vincent Olindo, of
Long Beach, CA; two cherished grandchildren, Marissa and Luca Hoover; two brothers, Vince Russo and his wife Lisa, of
Perkasie, PA and Nunzio Russo and his wife Ginny, of Upper Southampton, PA and two nieces, Danielle and Gina Russo. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Anthony. We are comforted in imagining their beautiful heavenly reunion.
Mary also leaves behind brokenhearted extended family including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and countless friends.
Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 N. Main Street,
Sellersville, PA, where family and friends may call from 9:00 to 10:45 AM. A private interment for family and close friends will follow in St. John Neumann Cemetery,
Chalfont, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Indian Valley Public Library, 100 E. Church Avenue,
Telford, PA 18969 or www.ivpl.org/ways-to-give.
Arrangements are by the Suess-Gahman Funeral Home & Crematory,
