Robin Hunt (Butler) Daviet, 80, of
Laveen, AZ passed away on January 24th, 2026 in
Las Cruces, NM while surrounded by family, after a long struggle with vascular dementia.
Robin was born in
Whittier, CA to James Augustus Butler II and Doris Ann (Coumbe) Butler on November 23, 1945. She married Leslie L Daviet II on June 5th, 1965, in
Whittier, CA at St. Matthias Episcopal Church. She graduated from New Mexico State University in 1967 with a degree in Education. She was an active member of the Lions Club for many years, serving in many roles including District Governor.
Robin is preceded in death by her parents and sister Doris Lucas and brother James Butler III.
Robin is survived by her husband Leslie L Daviet II, their son Leslie L Daviet III and his wife Crystal, grandson Jordan and his wife Elyssa, and great grandchildren Elisa, Melody, Luna, James, Lilliana, and Balthazar, and grandson Samuel. Also, son Greg and his wife Theresa, grandson Michael and his wife Elizabeth, and great grandchildren James and Amelia, and granddaughter Elizabeth Segovia and her husband Liam, and great grandchildren Charlene and Marcella, and grandson Nicholas and his wife Estrella.
Robin grew up in California but came to Las Cruces in 1963 to attend her parents' alma mater, NMSU. Moving to a small town was jarring for her. Her parents were remarking on how much Las Cruces had grown since they had moved away. In their day NMSU was "out on the mesa". Robin replied, "The whole town is out on the mesa!" Robin knew one person in town, the son of her parents' good friends. As fate would have it, they got along, fell in love, and spent their lives together. After finishing college, they moved to Arizona for Les' career. They settled in Laveen and lived in the same house for nearly 50 years. Robin loved genealogy, a passion she shared with her older sister. They would take trips to Salt Lake City together to uncover bits of family history.
Robin was a giving person, never afraid to tell you what she thought, and always wanting to help where she could. As her health decreased and home care was becoming too hard to manage, she asked to move to Las Cruces where she spent her final years.
