Roger Heisler Obituary

Roger A. Heisler Sr., 91, passed away peacefully, Wednesday Night February 4, 2026, at Audubon Hospital in Louisville, KY, following a long bout with dementia.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Nannie K. Franklin and father, Louis Heisler; and daughter, Rhonda Heisler.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, who was his caregiver in the final years, Shirley Heisler; and sons, Roger Jr. and Steve.

Roger was born in Stearns, Kentucky on October 26, 1934. He moved with his family to Louisville in 1941. He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1952 and played varsity baseball, basketball and football, excelling as a pitcher in baseball. In 1960, he married Shirley McBay and had 3 children, Rhonda, Roger Jr. and Steve. He was an employee of General Electric for 35 years. Roger drove the church bus for Lee's Lane Baptist Church for 35 years, as well. In the later years, he was a member of Cloverleaf Baptist.
