Ross Van Boerum Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home - Allen on Feb. 14, 2026.
Ross E. Van Boerum peacefully passed away at his home on February 7, 2026, at the age of 83 in Allen, Texas after complications from an illness. Ross was born on September 14, 1942, in Ogden, Utah, to John Eiso Van Boerum and Alta Virginia (Gerstner) Van Boerum. He was the third of four children, and is survived by his brother J. Howard Van Boerum. He was raised in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School before continuing his education at Weber State College.

On October 18, 1967, Ross married the love of his life, Suzanne Simmons, in the Salt Lake City Temple in Utah. Together they shared a devoted marriage marked by faith, service, and deep commitment to family.

A lifelong and devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ross dedicated much of his life to service. As a young man, he served a two-and-a-half-year church mission to Holland from 1962 to 1964, and later in life, Ross and Suzanne served together as missionaries in Bonham, Texas. He also served faithfully as a temple worker, for over 14 years, in the Dallas Temple. Ross served for several years in the Army National Guard before beginning a successful career in banking and finance. He worked as a branch manager before transitioning into commercial lending. He was known for his integrity, leadership, and dedication to helping others succeed.

Ross held many leadership callings throughout his life, including serving as a bishop in the Huntington Beach Stake in California, as well as serving as a high councilor and as secretary to the stake president. He was also active in the community, serving as Lieutenant Governor of the Kiwanis Club, where he enjoyed giving back and building meaningful relationships.

Ross had a very inquisitive and curious mind. He loved to read, especially the scriptures and other church books. He was an avid do-it-yourselfer, enjoyed working with wood and fixing things, and loved playing golf.

Ross is survived by his beloved wife, Suzanne Van Boerum; his children, Stefanie Van Boerum Johnson, Kristie Van Boerum, Jeff Ross Van Boerum (Alexandra), and Paul Ross Van Boerum (Julie); his grandchildren, Ishara Shirrin (Christopher), Aaron Johnson, Alicia Eastaugh (Emilio), Adam Van Boerum, Eleanor Van Boerum, Katherine Van Boerum, Nicholas Van Boerum, Braden Van Boerum, Jacob Van Boerum, Gavin Van Boerum, and Malcolm Van Boerum; and five great-grandchildren, Alice and Delilah Shirrin, Kyler and Jack Eastaugh, and another great-grandchild expected in August 2026. Ross was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Reed Van Boerum; and his sister, Judy Parke.

Ross will be remembered for his unwavering faith, quiet leadership, kindness, and the deep love he held for his family. He faced many challenges throughout his life, and always remained committed to his covenants and testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. His life was one of service, devotion, and steady example, and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

The funeral service for Ross E. Van Boerum will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 20, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints Stake Center, 1324 W. Exchange Pkwy, Allen, Texas 75013, and a viewing before the services from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
