Sara Vissman Obituary

Sara Natalyn "Nat" Vissman, 100, of Ft. Wright, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 8, 2026. She was born on March 1, 1925, in Atlanta, Georgia, the daughter of the late Walter and Sara McLendon.

Nat's early life took her from Atlanta to Winchester, Kentucky, before she spent time living in Michigan and West Virginia. She eventually settled in Northern Kentucky, where she became a beloved member of the community. For over 50 years, she was an active and valued member of Immanuel Methodist Church in Lakeside Park, KY, where she also contributed to the Sarah Circle.

Nat was a proud member of the Daughter's of the American Revolution, belonging to the Rebecca Boone Chapter, and she was honored with the distinction of Kentucky Colonel. Her love for her home state extended to her lifelong passion for University of Kentucky basketball.

In her free time, Nat enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including gardening, sewing, playing bridge, and challenging herself with word puzzles and dominoes. She had a keen mind and a kind, nurturing spirit, and she was dedicated to her family, friends, and faith. Her deep love for God, Jesus, and her church was central to her life.

Nat was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart and beloved husband of 55 years, Eugene Vissman; her daughter, Judith Pomfret; her sisters, Betty (Maurice) Taylor and Peggy (Chuck) Bartley; and her niece, Sara Wallace. She is also preceded by her nephew, Charlie Bartley.

She leaves behind her son, John (Christine) Vissman; son-in-law, Michael Pomfret; grandson, Nick (Morgan) Pomfret; great-granddaughter, Lucy Pomfret; niece, Claudia Puckett; and nephews, Bill (Mary Sue) Taylor and Mike (Wendy) Bartley.

The family is grateful for the compassionate care provided by the staff at Rosedale Green Nursing Home and St. Elizabeth Hospice.

A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 from 10:00 A.M. until the Memorial Service at 11:00 A.M. at Immanuel Methodist Church, 2551 Dixie Highway, Lakeside Park, KY 41017. Interment taking place in Floydsburg, KY.
