Sheryl Holmes Obituary

Sheryl L. Holmes, 63, of Waymart, died Tuesday morning, February 17, 2026 at Wayne Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness.

Born April 6, 1962 in Waymart, she was the daughter of the late Thomas S. and Barbara (Fenwick) Holmes.

Sherry grew up in Waymart and was a graduate of Western Wayne High School. She enjoyed hiking and canoeing and spending time outdoors. Sherry loved her family; she especially enjoyed playing Yahtzee and other games together. To know Sherry was to love her. She was a wonderful and kind person who made this world a brighter place. She will be deeply missed.

She is survived by two sisters, Susan A. Cartwright of Waymart, Gwen E. Holmes of Cresco; a nephew, James Cartwright; two nieces, Laura Cartwright and Renae Colburn; a great-nephew, Zachary; an aunt, Benjie LaBar of Cresco; and three uncles, Douglas Fenwick of Righland, PA, Dale Fenwick of Waymart, and Daniel Fenwick of Mount Joy, PA.

Graveside Services will be held at The Waymart Cemetery at Canaan Corners on Sherry's Birthday, Monday, April 6, 2026 at 1:30 PM with Pastor Sal Maiorana officiating. Everyone attending is asked to go directly to the cemetery.
