Vicki Lou Ragan August 28, 1948 – February 11, 2026
Vicki Lou Ragan (Warren), 77, of Thayer, Missouri, passed away on February 11, 2026, in Springfield, Missouri. Her passing was sudden, and she is deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Born on August 28, 1948, in Thayer, Missouri, Vicki dedicated her life to the education and enrichment of each and every student she taught. Over a remarkable 43-year career in education, she served as a teacher's aide at Mammoth Spring Elementary, a sixth-grade teacher at Salem Elementary, and lastly librarian at Salem Elementary School, a role that perfectly suited her lifelong love of books and learning. She was still working in education at the time of her passing, because for Vicki, teaching was never just a job. It was who she was.
Vicki believed that a love of reading could open any door. She was the kind of teacher and librarian students remembered long after they left her classroom, not just for what she taught them, but for the way she made them feel seen and supported. Her warmth and patience left a mark on everyone she encountered.
That same devotion carried into her home. Vicki was a loving mother who supported her children's dreams wholeheartedly, and a grandmother who cherished her grandchildren immensely. Family was her foundation, and she gave to it with the same quiet dedication she gave to everything she loved.
Vicki is survived by her sister, Judy Smith of Charleston, Missouri; her brother, David Warren of Florence, Alabama; her daughter, Marie-Alana Ragan of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; her son, Eric Ragan of Boston, Massachusetts; and her grandchildren, Glady Ragan and Jackson Ragan of Boston, Massachusetts.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Ragan; her brother, Jim Warren; and her parents, James and Faye Warren.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 AM, followed by a memorial service and celebration of life at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Salem Elementary School Library, a place that meant so much to Vicki throughout her life and career.
