Wanda Herald Obituary

Wanda Faye Herald, 78, of Talbert, Kentucky passed away at her home Thursday, February 5, 2026. Born on May 9, 1947 at Talbert, she remained deeply rooted in the community that shaped her life.

A high school graduate, Wanda dedicated her life to being a homemaker. She was a member of Macedonia Old Regular Baptist Church, where her faith was a guiding presence throughout her years.

Wanda had a deep love for the outdoors. She found peace and satisfaction in gardening and took great pride in maintaining her yard. Mowing grass was more than a chore-it was something she genuinely enjoyed. Her generosity extended beyond her own home; she often mowed the lawns of her sister-in-law and neighbors, offering her time and energy with quiet kindness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Rachel Herald; brothers, Johnny Herald, William Herald, Elliott Herald, and Joe Ed Herald; and sisters, Grace Herald, Ellen Turner, and Ruth Eads.

Wanda is lovingly remembered by her sisters, Elizabeth Brewer and Polly Raleigh; sisters-in-law, Arminda Herald and Elizabeth Herald; a special nephew, Noah Jenkins; as well as a host of nieces and nephews who will cherish their memories of her warmth and presence.

Visitation for Wanda will begin Monday, February 9, 2026 at 11:00 AM with her funeral to follow at 1:00 PM at the Breathitt Funeral Home with Pat Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the Buck Herald Cemetery at Talbert with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Her life was one of quiet strength and enduring love for family and community. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her.
