I was really enjoying reconnecting with Fred and exchanging fond memories of sports and other activities at the Park School, when his life ended too soon. I missed an opportunity to better know a very accomplished person and someone I grew up admiring.

I interned with Fred Keller as a college freshman in 1974 at the suggestion of my cousin who knew Fred from his work with the Diocese of Buffalo. I am surprised to learn Fred was only 6 years older than myself. He had such serious dedication and a commanding presence. Everytime I pass the apartment complex on Elmwood Avenue where we filmed, I remember that experience fondly. There were others working on that film: Tom W., Jim B., John K., but they probably have their own memories to share. I learned the importance of continuity and that I would not make a living as a typist. Rest in peace.

Fred and I ended up working together when he directed an episode of seaQuest during the mid 90s but we became friends much earlier in the early 60s, great friends, back in Snyder NY. We were classmates at The Harlem Road School 18, grammar school pals who shared vivid imaginations and played make-believe for hours. As I look back at those times it is no surprise that we both ended up as storytellers. RIP, Fred... I was lucky to know you.

I took care of his mother Joyce in the nursing home. He and his wife Elizabeth were always so nice and very understanding.

I am a 83 year old Catholic priest and Fred and his father encouraged me to value deeper cinema. It has helped me to experience more than one life and thus has influence me, my preaching and my counseling . Fred now knows how much we love
him . We don't have to worry about him anymore. He is in heaven. We are all walking each other home. Thank you Fred and God.

Dear Elizabeth, it is with great sadness I learned of Fred“s passing, and with this note I send sincere and heartfelt condolences. I knew Fred at Hamilton, where I was a charter class Kirkland student. Fred helped me grow up and I hold him in my heart most tenderly. May his memory be a blessing.
