Danielle Jasmin Mathieu
September 4, 1951 – January 17, 2026
Danielle Jasmin Mathieu, lovingly known as Dane, passed away on January 17, 2026, at the age of 74, surrounded by a lifetime of love and faith. A woman of deep compassion, unwavering strength, and boundless generosity, Danielle touched countless lives and leaves behind a legacy that will never fade.
Born and raised in Haiti, Danielle spent her early years in Acul-du-Nord and Cap-Haïtien, before moving to Port-au-Prince in 1980. She answered her calling as an educator, graduating from Normal School in 1972 and dedicating herself to teaching at several respected institutions, including the Sisters of La Sagesse of Acul-du-Nord, Collège Côte Plage de Carrefour, and Sacred Heart College of Turgeau. Teaching was never just a profession for her it was an act of service, love, and purpose.
In 2000, Danielle immigrated to the United States, where she continued to work tirelessly to build a life rooted in perseverance, dignity, and hope. No matter where she lived, her heart always remained open to others.
A devoted woman of faith, Danielle was deeply connected to her church and community. She actively participated in social and cultural life and was a dedicated member of Crystal, Pitit Maman Marie of Bradenton, and the Nouvelle Alliance Group Charismatic of Somerville. Her profound connection to the Holy Spirit was evident in her actions, her words, and the comfort she brought to those around her. Her love and light radiated effortlessly, leaving a lasting impression on anyone fortunate enough to know her.
Danielle was the wife of Etzer Mathieu. Though she did not have children of her own, she was a mother in every sense of the word. She devoted her life to nurturing and guiding the children of her village, becoming the best bonus mother. Her love extended across generations as she joyfully embraced her role as grandmother to Avani-Fara Samson and Manou J. Young, whom she cherished as her own. Her home and her heart were always full.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nina Florival Jasmin and Jacquees Jasmin, and her sister, Fara “Magalie” Jasmin Samson. She is survived by Alerth Samson, Guychard Samson, Sasha Samson, Avani-Fara Jasmin and Manou J. Young. She is survived by her siblings Joseph Jasmin, Alix Jasmin, Anniane Jasmin Parisien, Benick Jasmin, Fresnel Innocent, Marie Yolette Innocent, Island Innocent, Berlique Innocent, Fara Pierre, and Marlie Pierre, along with a large and loving extended family from the Compere, Dupuy, Florival, Ambroise, Oladoja, Parisien, Joseph, Charles, Devil, Pierre-Antoine, Pierrot, Bobo, and Lapommeray families.
Danielle Jasmin Mathieu was truly the light of our lives. Though she is no longer physically with us, her spirit lives on in the love she gave, the faith she shared, and the unity she created. Her legacy will continue to guide and comfort us for generations to come.
