Myrna England Obituary
Myrna England passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, at the age of 78. Born September 13, 1947, she always considered 13 her lucky number, a small reflection of the optimism and humor she carried throughout her life.
Myrna spent much of her childhood in the jungles of Peru in Yarinacocha, where she developed a lifelong love for animals and adventure. Among her childhood companions was a pet monkey named Henry, and her years in South America remained a source of treasured stories throughout her life. She was especially proud of her father, Jim, and the time she spent sharing his hobbies such as photography and traveling with her family.
She attended Monte Vista Christian School, graduating in 1965. The school held deep family meaning for Myrna, as it was founded by her grandfather and was also where her own parents first met and later served. She carried that adventurous spirit throughout her life, even driving her VW Beetle from California to Florida and back.
Myrna met the love of her life, Neil, at the Pinto Lake boat drag races. They married in 1975 and shared 51 years together filled with love, partnership, laughter, and adventure. Their travels took them across the United States and to places such as Alaska, Hawaii, and Peru. Many weekends were spent enjoying the scenic drive to Monterey or simply taking a Saturday drive along the coast to Big Sur.
Myrna was a devoted and active member of her community. She was involved with the Watsonville Women's Club, an early member of the Monterey Bay Rose Society helping guide its growth and also served for many years as Chair of the Floriculture Department at the Santa Cruz County Fair.
A passionate rosarian, Myrna cultivated more than 200 roses in her meticulously designed garden. She lovingly tended and pruned them herself, growing an impressive variety that included miniature roses, old-fashioned heirloom varieties, and hybrid teas. Her garden reflected both her patience and her eye for beauty.
Above all, Myrna was devoted to her family. She was a loving mother to her children and a proud and affectionate "Gommy" to her grandchildren. Her home was always welcoming to friends and family.
Myrna will be remembered for her warm smile, generous spirit, and wonderfully dry and absurd sense of humor. Her sharp wit and kind heart left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Anita Price. She is survived by her husband, Neil England II; son, Neil (Jaime) England III; daughter, Andrea (Bria) England; her beloved grandson, Grant England; and granddaughter, Vinnie England.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and celebrate Myrna's life. Mehl's Colonial Chapel has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
