Gail Noonan Obituary

CHELMSFORD, MA - Gail M. (Herbst) Noonan, 82, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, in North Chelmsford, MA. She was the beloved wife of the late William E. "Bill" Noonan with whom she shared 51 years of marriage until his passing in 2012 and the proud mother of their four daughters.

She was born in Whitehall, New York on January 1, 1944, and was the daughter of the late Herman and Edna G. (Schinver) Herbst. She received her education in Whitehall schools and was a graduate of Whitehall's High School. She went on to study at Adirondack Community College in Glens Falls, NY and earned her Associate Degree in Nursing and her Registered Nurse license.

Gail dedicated her life to caring for others, both professionally and personally. She spent more than 30 years working in labor and delivery at Lowell General Hospital, where she compassionately guided countless families through one of life's most meaningful moments. Her steady presence, knowledge, and kindness made a lasting impact on generations of parents and newborns.

In addition to her work at the hospital, Gail was a passionate childbirth educator and a certified hypnobirthing instructor. She empowered mothers with confidence, calm, and knowledge, leaving a legacy of strength and support that extended far beyond the delivery room.

Her commitment to service was evident in every aspect of her life. She volunteered at the local Pregnancy Care Center, offering care and encouragement to women in need. A faithful and active member of St. Mary's Church, she found joy in her spiritual community and lived her values through service and compassion.

Gail also shared her time and talents as a Girl Scout leader, mentoring young girls and helping shape future generations with patience and warmth. She was a proud member of her local garden club, where she nurtured her love of nature and created beauty that reflected her gentle spirit. In her free time, she enjoyed golfing and had a deep love for yoga, finding both relaxation and balance through these activities.

In her entrepreneurial pursuits, she worked as an independent Shaklee distributor, helping others pursue healthier lifestyles.

Above all, Gail will be remembered for her generous heart, her unwavering dedication to others, and the love she gave so freely to her family and community.

Gail leaves her four daughters Corine Marranzini of Pepperell, Janet Wilson and her husband Scott of Stow, Mary Kay Emero and her husband Brian of Londonderry, and Erin Noonan of Nashua; 11 grandchildren Katelyn Dunlay and her husband Chris, Sean Redwood and his wife Emily, Meghan Goers and her husband Ken, Christopher, Zachary and his wife Lindsay, and Alexandra Wilson, Reece, Erika, and Mason Emero, and Lauren and Kennedy Rebello; 11 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law Anne and Paul Grube of Queensbury, NY and several nieces and nephews.

She was also the sister of the late Donald and his wife Sandy Herbst, and sister-in-law of the late Tony and his wife Joan Scott and Richard and his wife Pam Noonan.

Memorial donations may be made in Gail's name to Pregnancy Care Center 151 Warren Street #200 Lowell, MA 01852.
