Linda Hill Obituary

Dr. Linda J. Hill, D.O., passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 10th in Leonard, Michigan, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Dr. Hill was a devoted physician, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Dr. Hill was born in York, Pennsylvania, on November 10, 1954, to Carolyn and James Robert Hill. She is survived by her two sons, Andrew Lewis of Michigan and Joe Hill of Colorado; her daughter-in-law, Lisa Lewis; and her two grandchildren, Walker and Quinn.

Dr. Hill graduated from Johnston High School in Johnston, Iowa, in 1971. After graduation, she moved west to serve as a park ranger in Jackson, WY. Shortly thereafter, she decided to pursue a career in medicine, eventually earning her medical degree from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1985.

Following medical school, Dr. Hill practiced medicine in Maine, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Vermont, Massachusetts, and New York. She was a well-respected member of the medical community, frequently speaking at conferences and serving on medical boards at the facilities where she worked. She served as a family practice physician for 37 years before retiring in 2022.

Dr. Hill was also deeply involved in the Capital Region community. In addition to serving as a primary care physician to many, she founded and operated an addiction recovery clinic where she helped countless people escape the grips of addiction.

Dr. Hill devoted her life to raising her two sons, largely as a single mother. She worked tirelessly to ensure her children had every opportunity possible and would stop at nothing to see them live happy and healthy lives.

When she was not caring for patients or her family, Dr. Hill loved gardening, quilting, scrapbooking, hiking, and caring for her many animals. No matter where she lived, she cultivated beautiful gardens that she took immense pride in.

Dr. Hill will be cremated, and her ashes will be spread among the orchards and gardens at her children's homes, where she can enjoy the flowers forever.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Andrew and Joe - We are so sorry for your loss. Your mom was a wonderful neighbor, friend, and private "emergency physician" for us. She was an amazing woman who was so proud of "her boys". Please accept our heartfelt condolences.
