GANSEVOORT, NY - Stanley C. Higgins, born February 6, 1944, in Cambridge, NY, passed away on March 29, 2026, surrounded by love.
She lived her life with one guiding principle: family first. Being a mother, grandmother, and loved one was her greatest joy and proudest role. Her love and devotion to her family shaped everything she did.
She is survived by her beloved children, Kevin (Lora) Higgins, Kim Higgins, and Scott (Lori) Hunter; her cherished grandchildren, Shannon Higgins, Matt (Brooke) Higgins, Peyton (Sarena Hall) Hosner, and Jackson Hunter; and her sister-in-law, Kathleen Ford; and nieces, Heather and Rebecca Ford.
She was predeceased by her husband, William Higgins (2/17/2020), who's passing forever changed her; and by her brother, Dennis Ford (12/5/2023).
An artist at heart, she was a gifted painter who expressed her creativity through her artwork. Her paintings reflected how she saw the world - with beauty, color, and deep feeling. Many of her pieces remain with family and friends as treasured reminders of her spirit.
She will be remembered for her loyalty to family, her creativity, and the way she always put others before herself. Her legacy of love and art will live on in all who knew her.
The family extends their deep gratitude to the staff at The Washington Center for providing exceptional care and compassion during her time there.
A private burial and memorial will be held.

I am so very sorry to learn of Stanley´s passing. My deepest condolences to family and friends.
I hold dear the wonderful memories of get-togethers with friends, including Stanley and Bill. It wouldn´t have been be a party without the fun and laughter they brought.
An especially vivid memory is the time I looked to Stanley for assistance with a background color for the bird quilt designed, embroidered, and sewn by my mother and grandmother. For such a priceless future heirloom, the colors had to be perfect, so of course I thought of Stanley. With her artistic eye, she did indeed choose the perfect color and hue for the expansive background, which showcased the embroidered birds without overshadowing them. When my mother incorporated her idea as she completed the quilt, a masterpiece emerged. Our family sees Stanley in that quilt. A masterpiece herself, Stanley will be remembered and loved for the talent, joy and beauty she brought to her world.
