April Braziel Obituary

April Gay Braziel, 61, of Long Pine, Nebraska, passed away on January 14, 2026, at Brown County Hospital in Ainsworth Nebraska.

April was born on April 25, 1964, and was raised in Lincoln. She graduated from Lincoln East High School in 1982. After graduation, she worked as a pharmaceutical technician and devoted much of her life to caring for animals. She was known for taking in strays, adopting from shelters, and opening her heart to any animal in need.

April and her partner, Mark could often be found exploring Nebraska's rivers and creeks, taking in everything nature had to offer. April had a remarkable knack for finding arrowheads and especially loved to fish. Even as her health in recent years kept her from many of the activities she enjoyed, April remained in good spirits and continued to embrace life with warmth, humor and gratitude.

Those left to cherish April's memory include her beloved partner, Mark Mueller of Staplehurst, Nebraska; her brothers, Kenton Braziel (Eileen) of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Blaine Braziel (Geri) of Lincoln, Nebraska; her niece, Jena Braziel, and Jena's partner, Raoul Paisner, of Santa Fe, New Mexico; along with many cousins and dear friends.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to April's friends and caregivers in Long Pine and Lincoln for their kindness, support, and compassion over the years.

April was preceded in death by her parents, Bryson and Leona Braziel.

Those wishing to honor April's memory may make a donation to their favorite animal shelter or consider adopting a pet in need-something that would have meant the world to her.

A private celebration of life with family will take place this summer.
