Sophia Uhl Obituary

It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Sophia M. Uhl, who left us peacefully on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at the age of 86. In her final moments, she was held close by those who meant the most to her.
Sophia was born in Poland on December 8, 1938, and later made her home in Kersey, PA, where she built a wonderful life surrounded by family. It was in Kersey that she met James D. Uhl, and the two were married on May 28, 1964.  He preceded her in death on August 29,2008.
Sophie's hands were rarely still, she poured her heart and soul into grandchildren and great-grandkids, landscaping, crafting, sudoku, and playing Candy Crush.
Her landscaping beds were filled with color and life. Her crafting table was just as full with fabric, ribbons, pinecones, glue, and love, where she spent hours crafting gifts and decorations that brightened the lives of those she loved.
Above all, Sophie's greatest joy was family, especially her great- grandchildren. She delighted in celebrating their achievements and showered them with their favorite foods and so much love.
Sophia is survived by her four daughters; Lisa Uhl of Kersey, Jeanette (Mark Kromer) Nicklas of Kersey, Donna (Kip Walters) Steis of St. Marys, and Michele (Ed) Walker of Kersey. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; Alyssa (Anthony) Tettis, Justin (Kelsey) Walker, Lucas (Jayna) Nicklas, Joshua (Taylor) Nussbaum, Dylan (Megan Mosier) Nicklas, Brianna (Todd) Barnes, Bryce (Lauren Eckert) Walker, and Jonathan (Melody Neubert) Steis and by eleven great-grandchildren; Abel, Kaleb, Isaac, Lilah, Levi, Harper, Jett, Kason, Ada, Braylee, and Harley, all of whom will carry her love in their hearts forever.
Her hands may rest, but the beauty she carried continues to bloom in all of us.
A Celebration of Sophie's life is being held privately with the immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you plant something beautiful in her memory, just as she did so often.
