Betty Badding Obituary

Funeral services for lifelong Dove Creek resident, Betty Jo Badding will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at St. Jude Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Dove Creek Cemetery.

A visitation has been scheduled for Friday evening from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. A rosary will begin at 7 p.m. following the visitation.

Betty was born on June 29, 1934 in Dove Creek, the daughter of Joe and Jessie Juanita Fury. She passed away on Monday, February 16, 2015 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Durango. Betty was 80 years old.

On January 14, 1961 in Dove Creek, Betty married Francis Henry Badding. They were both devout servants of the Catholic faith. With this union ten children were born.

There was so much life flowing through Betty, everything thrived under her hands. Her family was the most important to her. She also enjoyed taking care of orphaned animals, her flowers and her garden. Ranching and the mountains were also favorites of Betty's.

Surviving Betty are her children, Theresa Espinoza and husband, David of Mancos, Darla Hanstedt and husband, Michael of Durango, Francis Badding, Jr. of Bloomfield, Paul Badding of Dove Creek, Angela Geisinger and husband, Wayne of Egnar, Christine Hudgens and husband, George of Hesperus, Jolene Badding of Durango, Cheryl Hanstedt and husband, Steve of Hesperus, Mark Badding of Dove Creek and LaDonna Garrett and husband, Guy of Hesperus; 20 grandchildren, Seven great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Mary Lou Matz of Centralia, Wash., John Fury of Dove Creek, and Isaac Fury of Bosque Farms, N.M. Preceding Betty in death are her parents, Joe and Jessie Fury; her husband, Francis Badding; and her brother, Paul Fury.
