Betty was a dear friend. When I moved with my family from Dolores to Cortez in the early 60's. I met Betty at "Mesa" school for the first time. Early on I didn't know how to take Betty. As our friendship grew through junior high and high school, I still didn't know how to take Betty. We got along fine but she always remained "UTE" Not close, but not distant. Somehow a very dear friend that held white folks at arm's length. Hard to explain.

I am so sorry that Betty has passed. We went to MCHS together. Lovely girl. (We were all "girls" back then.) I hope she had an easy transition. My condolences to her family and other loved ones. Dorothy Fulks
