Cathrin Orgish Obituary

Cathrin E. Orgish, 91, passed away peacefully with family at her side in Mancos, CO, Dec. 22, 2017. She was born April 22, 1926 in Long Beach, CA to George E. Emerson and Hilda O. Woods. She married her first husband, James M. Staley, in Grand Junction, CO and they had 3 children. She later married Robert R. Staley and they had a child that died at birth. She later married Billy P. Orgish. Her husbands all preceded her in death.

Cathrin thrived in the outdoors her entire life, possessing excellent marksmanship and equestrian skills learned during her childhood on her family's Bridgeport Ranch on the Gunnison River near Grand Junction, CO. She spent most of her life in Colorado, much of it in the Mancos area.

Art was an important part of her life. In her younger years she painted posters for rodeos, while later on she concentrated more on her own personal art, which she practiced into her eighties. Cathrin also owned and operated a fishing boat service in Fort Myers, FL. Her last 47 years she spent operating her farm in Weber Canyon, CO. She was able to live at the farm until the last 2 weeks of her life.

Cathrin is survived by her sons Jim Staley, Tannin Staley and Frelan Staley; 10 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

A memorial and remembrance service will be held at the Mancos Valley Church, Railroad Ave. and Willow St. in Mancos, on Sat., Jan. 27, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. with the doors open at 2:00.
